Ruby’s Kingdom Treasures – February 5, 2018

I recently put a couple of job postings on Facebook and at the end of the post I entered “Please feel free to tell us about your church background and your faith walk.” The responses to the ads have been slow. In fact, I have had only one inquiry. But she wrote how while she lived in the south she had found a Baptist church, accepted Christ through that ministry, recently moved to Wisconsin and was looking for a church.

The job applications haven’t been coming in when asked the question of faith and without it, I would get dozens in a couple of days. It is surely interesting how difficult people find it to share their faith or have so little knowledge of having a relationship with God. I found it refreshing after the Super Bowl how the coaches and players from the Eagles gave the credit to God and freely shared their faith before millions of viewers.

But I guess the age-old question is still valid today, “If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” -Matthew 24:14

Sometimes sharing our faith is difficult to put into words since it is an on-going, daily, habit/relationship with our King and Savior. I could tell you I was raised in a solid lutheran home, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School at 16 and beyond. I could tell you of my journey into another synod which lead to 8 years in the Assembly of God” where I learned to REALLY pray and then into the Baptist religion where I have been for 20 years. but none of this tells you of my faith. My faith came from being taught I am never alone. It came from hearing my parents casually thank God when they made the bills every month, or my dad found a better job, or we arrived at our destination safely, or my father would tell how he had a problem but if he’d pray about it at night, turn it over to God and go to sleep He would almost always give him the answer while he slept. MY bolt of lightening faith came kneeing at the altar for communion, looking up at the empty cross and knowing without a doubt that my Lord was alive and the Spirit was active here on earth. My adoption became validated that day. I am truly a child of God!! I know Who my Father is!
2 Chronicles 16:18 ‘The eyes of the Lord search to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those who’s heart are loyal to Him.’
